This baby was a Goodwill find. I love the stripes! It has always been a little big, and a little wrong for the season…too hot for the summer-again, with that deep V a tank is necessary- or too chilly for the winter because of the lightweight fabric. And, maybe I’m wierd, but I don’t love hoods on shirts. Sweatshirts and even sweaters, maybe, but on a tee? I don’t get the point. Anyway, so if nothing else the hood had to go! Okay, I actually cut the hood off a few months ago and pinned it back on for the photo…it was a work in progress!! So the goal, transform into a hoodless summer tee that I cold wear sans undershirt.
Goal accomplished. Shortening the sleeves was as simple as a quick snip. The unfinished edges on this stretchy cotton rolls, so no hem needed. I used the fabric from the hood to continue the stripes through the V neck, eliminating the need for an undershirt. I took in about an inch for a better fit. Then, to add a little more detail, I used the binding trim from the hood to add a second V with a small sailor’s knot at the tip. A little reminiscent of a navy collar…perfect with the stripes, don’t you think?
Stay tuned for what I did with the sleeves!! I’m working on a few little things for my Etsy shop, which is now being revamped…sort of like my closet! I think you’ll it;)
