Clementine? Is that you?

Ever heard of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind?

Um, I hadn’t. Until two weeks ago when I spotted a request for a custom costume on Etsy alchemy

The Etsy request went something like:
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is one of my favorite movies and I really want to dress up as Clementine for Halloween.
My favorite is her cowgirl costume she wore when hiding in Joel’s memory as a little kid.”

What?
Although I had no idea about the movie, or the character, the denim pinafore looked simple enough. So, I bid away.
And was awarded the bid.
So, I went to work re-creating Clementine’s dear cowgirl costume. You know, the one she wore while hiding in Joel’s memory as a kid.

I loved creating a pattern for this totally different pinafore, and piecing it right onto my dress form. I actually finished the last touches at a friend’s house while catching up on Project Runway. Perfect inspiration.

Clementine is now packed up into a tidy flat-rate envelope destined for Halloween success. The buyer is super happy with the dress, and I am glad (because I think she might be in for a Halloween night of people asking, “So, what are you?”)

ahahaha! Yes, as a matter of fact, I am very familiar with Clementine. Such a quirky, creative, but really good movie. You would enjoy it I think. That's seriously a good idea for a costume (although not many people will know who she is, I'm guessing). I'm sure as you read through the description you thought "what the heck?!"….

getting tate's measurements today:) sorry, i have to borrow a measuring tape from my friend.

Might be one of my all time favorite movies and would spot her right off the bat. You did a GREAT job. Maybe I should wear that same costume for Halloween one year. I am impressed with how quickly you get things made. I don't have the time to sew as much as I would like, but like seeing all you get done.

I love that movie! And I've been begging my husband to let me name a daughter Clementine. He's not sold yet.

Would you be willing to make another clementine costume?? I’ve been searching for days trying to piece together the outfit of her in the woods, the army pants and love t shirt but I have found nothing. And this dress is so awesome!!

Sarah, I’m so glad you like this costume! I would love to make another Clementine sometime, but unfortunately I am booked for this year! So sorry for the inconvenience. Let me know if you need something in the future!
