Ice Cream with Lemon Juice

Are any of you old and redneck enough to remember when the Golden Arches, aka McDonald’s, served orange sorbet in a twist cone with vanilla soft serve? Oh, those were the days. I think it’s disappearance, along with my giving up the two-cheeseburger combo  (and all other red meat) from 12-21 years old, bred the dysfunctional relationship that Mickey Dee’s and I have today…I digress.
Back to the ice cream. I have a real thing for the creamy simplicity of vanilla accompanied by, yet not mixed with, the tangy sour of citrus. The easiest way I’ve found to satisfy this combo is simple: pour a couple teaspoons of lemon juice over freshly scooped vanilla bean, wait a few seconds for the juice to start freezing into the tiny cracks of the scoop, and enjoy. The topping with stray berries from the fridge, if they are to be found, is optional.
If you’re in the mood for an easy, creamy, tangy, yummy treat, you’ll love this.

Oooh! I will be trying this very soon. My favorite sweet/tart combo is similar. I put a scoop or two of orange juice concentrate with my vanilla ice cream and swirl it a bit. SO GOOD!

Sounds good…did you know that the McDonald's inside the DC Air and Space museum has those flavor-twisted cones still? Just a little FYI.
