Eliot’s Mustache Bash!!

I’m a spoiled mama. And you better believe I have some of the best friends in the world. Last Saturday Eliot and I were guests of honor at a Mustache Bash and it was fantastic. Of course, I devoured the details…which were plentiful, but the best part was getting to spend some time with good friends being excited about this little #2 (who already takes a back seat to his older brother’s needs)!
I squealed when I opened the invitation. It is so perfect! I have been super in love with typography since my letterpress obsession began, so an invite designed primarily around different typefaces, colors, sizes, etc. was to fun to see.
Here are the three hostesses with the mostesses. They put in so much thought and time…and the weekend of Easter no less. Thank you lovely ladies so so much! xo
Again, details were everywhere. The mustache cookie-cutter favors were part of the decor, and finished off with funny mustache quotes. They nicely tied together the food and the theme, as well.
Some more mustache fun. I love that simple mustache print. Isn’t it perfect? Sort of want to hang it in the nursery:) And it couldn’t be a mustache bash without mustaches for everyone!
Okay, we’re cute with mustaches. But there is definitely a reason facial hair is {usually} a man thing. In contrast to the manly mustache theme, the group gifted me a certificate for a much needed Mani/Pedi at a cool salon in Old Town. I can’t wait to pamper the last remaining physical reminders of the body I used to have…sigh.
The treats were absolutely divine. Milk and cookies, in all their varieties. I can’t complain one bit. Even with heartburn, milk and cookies settle well.
How cool are these individual little jugs? And the labels!! When I die, please cover me with darling labels.
The cookies were set out in clear glass cookie jars…with more adorable labels. And I loved the fresh fruit kabobs to offer some sweet vitamins to the table. Several of my friends contributed delicious homemade cookies to the goodness. I’ll confess the huge, gooey oreos were my favorite…and I might have half of one still in the freezer that I will probably go get and finish as I complete this post now that I’ve thought about it. Mmmm. Yep, even good frozen…
I loved the ribbon laced through the labels on these top jars. Details, right?
And a party doesn’t feel like a party without hanging something from the ceiling. The tissue paper pom poms were fun and festive.
How about “Name That ‘Stache” as a hilarious game for a mustache party! Of the ten famous mustaches included in the game, I guessed two correctly: Will Ferrel and the Monopoly Man. Turns out I’m not all that aware of the celeb ‘staches!
I always love this “name the shower guest as a baby” game, too. I did a little better at this, and only missed one. See the little girl covered in chocolate? That’s me. Not much has changed. And see that little lady sucking on her fingers? Yep. That’s also me at about age two. I showed that photo to Milo and he thought it was himself! We do look pretty similar…
COOL NEW IDEA ALERT!!
Instead of appliqueing onesies, or making hair clips, my friends came up with an entirely new craft gift for the shower. Hand painting simple pictures onto the blank sides of alphabet blocks! How genius!! Commercially designed block sets were set out for inspiration, and then we got to go to town.
Everyone painted some simple images onto three sides of the block, then wrote a little message to Eliot on the fourth side. And now he’s got a completely darling custom set of  blocks. Cool, huh? I’ll be using this idea someday again.
Baby Boy and I are feeling pretty special. Thank you so so much lovely friends!!

Oh my goodness! That is one of the best, most original shower ideas I have ever seen! What wonderful friends you have. I have thrown a couple of showers lately, and am sure I will have several more in the future. I might have to steal these fabulous ideas for one.:)

I want to do the block idea so bad! I don’t need to know where the blocks are from, but what was used to paint/write with? Are they safe for baby?

Hmm, basically you stitch one of the raw edges of the wide waistband to the top of the skirt, then fold it (where you folded and pressed it) and turn under the second raw edge before top-stitching it in place. This method keeps all of the unfinished edges of the whole waistband contained. Hope that helps!
