Happy to See You, Calendar

This has been a great week so far. I am definitely feeling a difference in my life as I straighten out my priorities, work on being consistent in my goals, and enjoy some quiet moments that would not have existed in my whirlwind last week. I am excited to be able to share our Holiday Greeting, feeling now that my actions are more consistent with our message! (Ironic that the trouble with sending these babies out was the end of my rope, causing the priority pow wow…)

I got the idea to do New Year’s cards mostly because I knew that the season was going to be really busy. I had been going 110 mph since before Halloween, so Christmas Cards were out of the question. I thought that rather than send a lonely New Year’s card that would arrive after the decorations had been taken down, creating the awkward dilemma for our friends and family of “Where do I put this thing, and for how long?” I would send along something that could stay up all year: a calendar.

I chose the words “Hello there Day, I’m Happy to see you!”  because of sweet Milo. Often, when I open the door to his room in the morning, he flashes me his goofy grin and says excitedly “Hi there! I’m happy to see you!” Then runs over and wraps me up in a hug. The card states, ” This year, we hope to greet each day with the same enthusiasm, and with this calendar we invite you to do the same.”

“Simply tear, hang, and enjoy every day!”

I letterpressed the cards in a fun and unexpected pink and orange (as a subtle nod to the 2011 and 2012 Pantone colors of the year) and perforated above the greeting with my Cutup Cartridge Trimmer. Then I included a faux photo booth strip from our New Year’s Day bash that I made by photoshopping the pictures with a white border (two wide) onto a 4×6. After picking up the prints at Costco, I just zipped down the middle of the print with the trimmer. Easy and pretty cute.

It has been really nice to actually feel this way. I’m sure that there are lots of tough times ahead in my life, like there are in everyone’s. But right now? I am HAPPY to see every day!

Hope you are, too.

(psst. Tomorrow is Friday, one day that EVERYONE is happy to see:) Have a great weekend!

Thanks for the card! I have always loved orange and pink together, and I love having the positive message on my fridge!

Thanks Jen!, I think calendars are useful two ways: 1) HUGE, so I can write down everything and anything on it (like my notebook style planner) or 2) so small I’m not expected to write or remember anything by it, just use it to know what day is when.

This one obviously falls in the latter category!(And now I know Dave, Eliot and my birthdays are on Thursdays, and Milo’s is on Tuesday. Useful stuff:)
